AVERAGE RENTAL PRICES IN AMSTERDAM
What is the average rental price in Amsterdam? 2020
The average rent in the Netherlands is € 16.77 per square meter, and if we do not include Amsterdam in this calculation, the average rental price is € 14.79 per month. Rents rose by 4.8% in the last quarter of 2019. However, Amsterdam has a major effect on this average price throughout the Netherlands. This is because there is a higher housing stock in larger cities, making the flow faster. In addition, the demand for rental housing in the larger cities is also the highest. This results in a lower price increase.
Amsterdam itself had only a 3.1 % increase in rent. If we left Amsterdam out of this, the average rent in the Netherlands would have risen by 5.3%. Conclusion, if we did not count Amsterdam in the national average, the national average would be half a percent higher, which means that, outside the larger cities, the rent increases. More than in the big cities themselves.
